Up early to explore some features of Quesnel. We walked across the Historic Fraser River Footbridge, the longest wood truss walking bridge in the world at 830 feet in length. Before the bridge was constructed fall cattle drives crossed here by swimming -wow!
At the adjoining River Front Park we enjoyed some local history including a riveted boiler from a riverboat, a steam shovel a Cornish water wheel and an historic log cabin built by the Hudson’s Bay Trading company in the 1882.

Back on the road. We needed some supplies for minor camper repairs and stopped at a very nice RV repair shop and store just outside of Prince George. The clerk in the store was a hoot. She told us about a chain superstore we should visit called Canadian Tire for a unique Canada experience – a kind of Walmart without the food. We drove to the Canadian Tire store in Prince George and we discovered Frank.
Frank is the life of the party. Frank likes to go camping, likes bar-b-ques and has a unique line of snacks. Frank is really funny and is the celebrity of a brand of goods exclusive to Canadian Tire. We had to buy some of Frank’s stuff. We chose four kinds of chips not normally found in The States. Frank Craves Ketchup, Eh, Frank Is Kind of a Big Dill, Frank Gets All Dressed Up. Frank Feels Stuffed.

The Ketchup chips look just like the ones on the package and have a strong ketchup taste that seems to get better the more you eat. The dill pickle flavored chips taste like salt and vinegar chips with a nice dilly zing. All dressed up is a Canadian version of a mix of multiple tastes. Kind of like a loaded baked potato but a little different. The turkey stuffing chips have a light taste of stuffing and poultry seasoning and are rather pleasant.
Onward again to a great stop in Chetwynd. Chetwynd has an impressive collection of over 150 chainsaw carvings lining the highway and displayed throughout town. They host the annual International Chainsaw Carving Championship. Master carvers compete by invitation only. Each year the top 12 carvings from the competition are added to the town’s collection. We strolled around and of course, took lots of pictures. A shout out to Ginger and Lew and their talented master carver son Chris. Thinking of all of you today.

While walking back to our rigs we were hollered at and stopped by a police officer jogging towards us. Pause for a brief heart-attack. She saw Molly and talked at length with John and Vicki all about her favorite dog breed, English Springer Spaniels.
Back behind the steering wheel for the last leg of today’s journey to Dawson Creek. Lots of oil, coal and natural gas industry through here. Arrived at our campground in Dawson Creek, set up camp, ate some dinner and went to bed.
Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.
